Indy-to-Paris Flight to Take Off

The trip marks Holcomb's seventh economic development trip as governor.

City and state officials will Thursday and Friday celebrate the launch of Indiana’s first nonstop transatlantic flight between Indianapolis International Airport and Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. The celebration will culminate with Governor Eric Holcomb returning from his sixth international economic development trip and delivering the Indy 500 green flag to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will join officials from Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) to send off the inaugural flight, known as Delta Flight 500, from Indy to Paris. The flight is scheduled to take off at 6:12 p.m. Thursday.

On Friday, the governor and First Lady Janet Holcomb will return from Europe aboard Delta Flight 501. The flight is scheduled to arrive at 4:27 p.m. and later that evening, Holcomb will deliver the green flag to IMS President Doug Boles on the yard of bricks.

The flight between Indy and Paris was first announced in September. The Indianapolis Airport Authority at that time estimated that the Paris flight could have a $50 million-per-year economic impact.
