The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration is recognizing nearly 20 Golden Hoosier Award recipients. The honor celebrates senior citizens committed to community service. May 30, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann today announced the winners of the Indiana 2014 Golden Hoosier Awards during a luncheon reception held at Fort Harrison State Park. The award recognizes senior citizens who have dedicated their lives to the betterment of their cities and towns through community service. The awards have been presented by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration's Division of Aging since 2008.

Recipients of the Golden Hoosier Award were nominated by members of their communities who were impacted by their volunteer efforts. The recipients and their nominators attended the luncheon where the winners received an award and recognition for their commitment to serving their communities from Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann.

“The individuals who receive this award have spent countless hours volunteering in their communities to make Indiana a great place to call home,” said Lt. Governor Ellspermann. “These selfless individuals are role models to many and I challenge Hoosiers to follow their examples.”

Vera Evans – Indianapolis
