Powderkeg Details Growth in Indy And Beyond

Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based Powderkeg has announced expansion plans that could add more than three dozen jobs over the next four years. The organization, which provides a subscription-based networking and growth-focused platform for technology entrepreneurs, is aiming to extend its footprint into 50 total markets by the end of 2020.
Powderkeg changed its name mid-last year from Verge and launched an online network to complement existing "digital and physical experiences" that include pitch night events and a podcast. During a June event in Indianapolis unveiling a name change, Chief Executive Officer Matt Hunckler told Inside INdiana Business that the platform helps connect founders, investors and resources in cities of all sizes.
Powderkeg has over 10,000 members and is currently active in Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, Muncie and Terre Saute, as well as Cincinnati, Kansas City, Nashville and Raleigh-Durham. Hunckler says "we’re going to kill the term ‘flyover cities’ in the next four years. Our platform taps the immense tech talent, services, products and growth potential in the majority of the country between the coasts. With our expanding national ecosystem for tech innovators, scaling companies will have the tools and resources they need to grow."
Earlier this year, Powderkeg relocated from DeveloperTown in the South Broad Ripple area of the city to Industrious Indianapolis, a new coworking space in the Mass Ave District.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Powderkeg’s parent, Indy Founders LLC, up to $500,000 in conditional tax credits and training grants.
