The cuts are the result of MV Transportation’s contract to provide paratransit services for IndyGo expiring at the end of March. IndyGo Director of Public Relations Lauren Day tells Inside INdiana Business the organization will enter into a new contract with Illinois-based Transdev North America at that time.
The WARN Notice provided by MV Tranpsortation to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development says 142 union and non-union employees will be laid off by March 31. Day says Transdev will be setting up meetings with affected employees, who will have the opportunity to apply for their positions under the new contract.
Day adds, during the transition between paratransit service providers, there will be no interruption in IndyGo’s Open Door service. A request for comment from MV Transportation was not returned.
