The organization says the event raises more than $1 million each year to support programs and training for more than 33,000 scouts and 7,600 adult volunteers. Governor Eric Holcomb was among those speaking at today’s event.
Former Crossroads of America Council Scout Executive Patrick Sterrett, who has been promoted to the number two job with the Boy Scouts of America, discussed the council’s growth in a Studio(i) interview.
Sterrett is about a month into his new job Assistant Chief Scout Executive – Operations for the Boy Scouts of America. The Crossroads of America Council has since hired Joe Wiltrout as scout executive. He previously served in the same role with the Three Fires Council in St. Charles, Illinois. He beings in January.
During a Studio(i) interview last month, Sterrett said updated programming has helped lead to growing membership in central Indiana. He says the organization is also doing its part in preparing scouts for an evolving workforce, putting an additional focus on STEM fields and soft skills. The STEM Scouts program, for example, currently serves over 500 kids, with about 300 labs throughout the state.
Speakers at today’s event also included Ambrose Property Group President Aasif Bade, St. Vincent Health Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Nalli and Pacers Sports & Entertainment Vice Chairman Jim Morris.
