The school says it is considering a variety of uses for the 114-year-old building, which it will buy for one dollar.
The Upland United Methodist Church building was constructed in 1903, with an addition built in 1965. Taylor University Special Assistant to the President Ron Sutherland says renovations to the space will depend on what the final use of the church will be. The school is also looking for input from faculty, staff, students and the public before making that decision.
The Upland UMC congregation will move to a new space at the former Pierce Governor Factory. Senior Pastor Rob Neel says the new church will offer a size more than 10 times larger than the old building.
