The Marshall County Economic Development Corp. says the $18 million facility, originally announced last September, is already fully operational.
Pretzels Inc. says the facility has already created more than 40 jobs in the Marshall County city. When the project was first announced as a $15 million endeavor, the company said it anticipated creating up to 65 total jobs.
The company purchased the 45,000-square-foot shell building in October 2016 and began the buildout of the facility the following month. The plant began shipping products to customers in April.
"Plymouth has rolled out the red carpet for us," says Chip Mann, co-owner of Pretzels Inc. "The community has provided tremendous support as we needed to ramp up operations quickly. I can see a long and strategic partnership with them for years to come."
The plant replaces one in Pennsylvania which was destroyed by a fire in June 2016. It is responsible for the production of peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets and bulk pretzel products.
Pretzels Inc. currently employs about 360 throughout the state.
