Money from the foundation supports research at the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis.
The organization made the announcement to hundreds of guests at last week’s Tickled Pink event at the Vera Bradley Design Center in Roanoke.
Vera Bradley co-founder Barbara Bradley Baekgaard says the company began raising funds for breast cancer research in 1993 after the loss of friend and co-worker Mary Sloan.
The Fort Wayne company recently announced Baekgaard would no longer serve as Vera Bradley’s chief creative officer, allowing her more time to focus on the foundation as well as a new book.
