Kokomo Airport Lands FAA Grant

The Kokomo Municipal Airport is the latest in Indiana to receive funding through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program. The airport has been awarded more than $263,000 toward runway rehabilitation efforts.

The most recent round of FAA funding benefits airports in 35 states and totals $151.1 million. To date, the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a total of $2.5 billion in new grants to airports throughout the country.

"The Airport Improvement Program helps to maintain our aviation infrastructure and supports safety, capacity, security and environmental improvements," said U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. "This is an important investment in these airports and the economic vitality of their respective communities."

Last month, the FAA awarded a total of nearly $13 million to Indiana airports in two rounds of funding. The first supported four airports including Indianapolis International Airport. The second supported seven Hoosier airports.
