Regional Partnership Shows Support For Riverfront
The first phase of the Riverfront project is expected to begin this month.

Subscribe NowThe investor board of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership is supporting a proposed tax increase to help fund the second phase of the Riverfront Fort Wayne project. The Regional Opportunities Council passed a resolution urging the Fort Wayne City Council to approve the proposal.
Construction on the first phase of the Riverfront project is slated to begin later this month and be complete within 18 months. Last month, the city council approved $17 million in construction contracts for the project, with funding coming from the city’s Legacy Fund, the Regional Cities Initiative, and private investment.
“A signature ‘quality of place’ project like the Riverfront Promenade will play an important role in taking our community from good to great and will be a crucial element in attracting and retaining the kinds of highly skilled people we need to fill job openings in our region," said ROC Chair Ray Kusisto. "The Regional Opportunities Council stands firmly behind this game-changing initiative, which will pay dividends now and for decades to come, as Northeast Indiana continues to compete for the very best talent."
The Fort Wayne City Council will host a public meeting June 27 to discuss the proposal. A further discussion and vote is set for July 11.
