The tournament is part of the Symetra Tour, which is the official qualifying tour for the LPGA. The players are competing to become one of the top 10 earners on the tour, which will secure them a LPGA Tour card for the 2018 season.
Among the participants are two former University of Notre Dame golfers: Becca Huffer and Lindsey Weaver, as well as Hoosiers Kelly Grassel of Chesterton and Carleigh Silvers from Martinsville.
The tournament is being hosted by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and its Four Winds Casinos. To date, the Four Winds Invitational has awarded more than $750,000 in prize money and nearly $350,000 has gone to Memorial Children’s Hospital in South Bend through tournament proceeds.
