Financial details of the move were not disclosed, however, Cargill says the office will initially employ 26 people with the potential for a small number of additional jobs.
The office had been located in the Lafayette Bank & Trust building for the past five years. Ron Reichart, senior merchant for the east region headquarters, says the office handles all of the merchandising and logistics for the 14 country grain elevators and five soybean crush plants in the region, which generally covers the U.S. east of the Mississippi River.
"Being at the Purdue Research Park keeps us very centrally located for our facilities," said Ron Reichart, senior merchant at Cargill’s east region headquarters. "There’s also the added benefit of being close to Purdue’s College of Agriculture and all the businesses at this park. It makes a lot of sense for us to be here."
Purdue says Cargill’s Agricultural Supply Chain connects ag producers to food, feed and industrial customers throughout North America.
