The company’s $130,000 donation will pay for the trailhead, which will include restrooms, water fountains, benches and parking.
The Warrick Wellness Pathways project involves six additional trail segments connected to the system that runs through Newburgh.
TMMI External Affairs Manager Karen Johnston says "we are so excited and honored to be a part of the Warrick Trails project and to see the Toyota name on a trailhead. At Toyota, we strive to make positive contributions to help increase the quality of life for our community members and positively impact the environment. This project will offer a healthy and eco-friendly conduit to Warrick County and surrounding cities."
Warrick Wellness Pathways Board Member Steve Roelle says the private sector has made a difference in the project. "Without corporate partners like Toyota, these trails would not happen," he said. "There were zero plans for this to take place – sidewalks were not even a part of the equation. Now we are able to take a concept to a reality, and the community can now see this come together."
Plans call for the Warrick Wellness Pathways project will add a total of 30 miles by 2019.
