In a notice to the state, the company says 80 employees will be laid off in mid-April as a result.
MDwise says it could not secure the capitation rates needed to continue its participation in the program. The company’s current contract will expire at the end of March and MDwise says it will not signed a contract for 2017.
"We are hopeful that other employers will provide MDwise employees opportunities for employment as our MDwise Hoosier Care Connect beneficiaries are transitioned to two other employers," the company said. "However, we do not know at this time the plans such other employers have with respect to employment of MDwise employees."
MDwise says the layoffs will begin April 17 and are expected to be permanent. The affected positions are located at the company’s Fortune Circle and Madison Plaza facilities in Indianapolis and while other areas at each facility will remain in operation, the entire Hoosier Care Connect operations will be closed.
MDwise was announced as one of three providers for the HCC program in 2014.
