Moore Joins Faculty of Wesley Seminary at IWU

Subscribe NowWesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University has hired Joy Moore as an associate professor of homiletics and Christian ministry. She will begin her duties at Wesley Seminary on July 1. Moore, who is an ordained elder in the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church, was the founding associate dean of the William E. Pannell Center for African American Church Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary, where she also served as an assistant professor of preaching since 2012. Prior to that, Moore served as associate dean for Black Church Studies and Church Relations at Duke University, in Durham, N.C., where she also was a visiting professor of preaching. She earned a Bachelor Arts in Education and Mathematics from National-Louis University in Evanston, Illinois, a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Seminary in Evanston, and a Ph.D. in practical theology from London School of Theology/Brunel University in London, England. Moore became a John Wesley Fellow in 2001, and is a member of the National Association of United Methodist Evangelists, the Wesleyan Theology Society, the Academy of Homiletics, the Society for Biblical Literature, and is currently president of the Christian Theological Research Fellowship of the American Academy of Religion.
