The contract calls for Dallara, whose U.S. headquarters are located in Speedway, to continue providing driver safety cells for the Verizon IndyCar Series through the 2020 season.
The safety cell is the base of the chassis in which the IndyCar Series drivers sit. Dallara has been supplying chassis for the series since 1997 and has been the sole chassis supplier since 2006. The chassis are built in Dallara’s factory in Speedway.
"Dallara’s continued participation in our sport provides INDYCAR and our competitors a tremendous amount of confidence," said Jay Frye, president of competition and operations for INDYCAR. "Dallara has been an instrumental partner in the Verizon IndyCar Series for 20 years and we are excited to extend our relationship with them."
INDYCAR says it will soon unveil plans for new bodywork for the current Dallara chassis for the 2018 season.
