Power ranks Indy number one in customer satisfaction among medium-sized airports and Rodriguez says the ranking speaks to the amenities, connectivity and experience for travelers through the state’s largest airport.
Rodriguez says the ranking allows the airport to show it is continuously building public value. He says the airport also has the ability to capitalize on such an important award.
"We are the number one convention city in the United States. Now, we’re clearly the number one airport in the United States," said Rodriguez. "This is great to capitalize on, not just for the tourism industry, the hospitality industry, but also for the business community. So it is a powerful tool to say that you have the number one gateway in the United States to arguably one of the best cities and one of the best regions in the United States."
The ranking is based on J.D. Power’s customer satisfaction survey of more than 38,000 air travelers. The survey included criteria such as terminal facilities, airport accessibility, security check, baggage claim, check-in/baggage check, food and beverage and retail amenities.
The Indy airport received an overall satisfaction score of 794 out of 1,000, as well as five out of five circles in J.D. Power’s Power Circle Rating from travelers.
The ranking adds to a long list of awards the airport has received in 2016. Airports Council International North America presented the Indy airport with the Best Airport in North America Award in August. The airport also topped the U.S. domestic airport category in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.
Rodriguez adds, looking forward, the future of the Indianapolis International Airport looks "extremely bright."
Rodriguez says customer satisfaction is the airport’s ultimate metric.
