Fort Wayne Art Museum Gets Historic Gift

The Journal Gazette reports the donated collection from the estate of the late artist David Shapiro has an estimated value of $6.2 million.
The publication says the museum has received four significant gifts in the last two years, including a total of more than 430 prints by artists Robert Kipniss, Katja Oxman and Steven Sorman.
A Brooklyn native, the artist earned a master’s in fine arts from Indiana University. His work is also on display in public and private collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art and Germany’s Kunsthalle der Stadt.
