Components include a new outpatient and specialty care pavilion with a connecting micro-hospital that will include an emergency department.
The largest of the two will be a three-stories and 85,000 square-feet. It will have 58 exam rooms, a 16-room pediatric wing, imaging and laboratory facilities, a 15-room "flex clinic," seven-bay rehabilitation area, wellness spa and space for obstetrical and gynecological care.
Parent Franciscan Alliance says the 20,000 square-foot Franciscan Health Stones Crossing micro-hospital and emergency department will offer some of the same services at larger facilities in Indianapolis and Mooresville, but "on a smaller scale." It will operate all-day every day and have 10 emergency bays or exam rooms. Franciscan Alliance Chief Operating Officer Robert Broday calls it "a model of value-based care and focuses on providing the right kind of care at the right time at the right location for patients residing in that area."
Officials say the facilities are needed to serve the "surging" population in the northern part of Johnson County. The building will be located near State Road 135 and Stones Crossing Road.
Chief Executive Officer James Callaghan says "Franciscan Health is committed to providing high quality healthcare with convenient access to those we serve. White River Township in Johnson County has experienced dynamic growth in recent years and we have been researching and planning the development of a medical complex that best serves the overall needs of people in this area and beyond."
Construction is set to begin in March and both facilities could be complete in Fall 2018.
The Franciscan Health announcement comes on the same day Johnson Memorial Health detailed its own big investment in the central Indiana county. The health care provider outlined a $42 million emergency/outpatient facility at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
