The security and loss protection company plans to invest more than $4 million to lease and equip a new distribution center, which is expected to create up to 50 jobs over the next five years.
The new facility will be located in the Grantline Industrial Park West, which was recently designated as Indiana Site Certified Gold by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. FireKing says it plans to begin hiring distribution associates for the facility in June.
"We are grateful to the city and the state for their efforts in assisting in our expansion efforts," said Mark Essig, chief executive officer at FireKing. "The positive business environment in Indiana is deeply appreciated as we expand our footprint and bring more jobs to the area."
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered FireKing up to $225,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $45,000 in training grants. The company will not be able to claim the incentives until Hoosier workers are hired.
FireKing employs more than 450 workers at its facilities in Indiana, Illinois and California. The company’s headquarters are located less than three miles from the location of the new distribution center.
