The Big Ten Conference will hold its men’s soccer tournament at the facility November 11 and 13, marking the first time the tournament will be held at a neutral location.
The tournament will also take place at Grand Park in 2017. During the same weekend, Grand Park will also host the Men’s College Showcase, which features more than 150 teams from 14 states and Canada who will compete in front of college coaches and scouts.
"We’re excited to host the 2016 and 2017 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournaments at Grand Park," said Westfield Mayor Andy Cook. "Coupled with the Men’s College Showcase, this weekend should be a special opportunity to showcase the Grand Park facilities, including the new Events Center. The large number of teams and spectators from other states will have a big impact on our local businesses."
The big weekend is expected to attract more than 4,000 spectators to Westfield. Two Big Ten semifinal matches will take place November 11 at 2:30 p.m. with the final match being held November 13 at 2:00 p.m. All of the games will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.
Grand Park says a $20,000 grant awarded to the Hamilton County Sports Authority by Sports Indiana is making the event possible.
