The head of Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG) is on a list of the world’s best-performing chief executive officers. David Simon is the only Hoosier CEO included in the 100-member ranking from Harvard Business Review, which is topped by Lars Rebien Sorensen of Novo Nordisk in Denmark.

Of the 895 eligible CEOs from 886 companies throughout the world, Simon was tied with Prologis chief Hamid Moghadam for 53rd. Simon’s standout attribute was financial ranking, which was 5th in the world. HBR considered financial data from the time each person became CEO, which included country-adjusted total shareholder return, industry-adjusted total shareholder return and change in market capitalization. To a lesser extent, nonfinancial factors were also included.
