Taylor to Name Court After Longtime Coach

Subscribe NowTaylor University has announced plans to celebrate the longtime coach of its men’s basketball team next week. The university will induct Paul Patterson, who coached the team for 34 years, into the Taylor Athletics Hall of Fame and rename its court in his honor.
Patterson served as head coach from 1979 to 2013. During his tenure, he led the team to 15 league championships, two Sweet 16 appearances in the NAIA National Tournament and one NAIA Final Four.
"We are thrilled that our basketball floor will forever bear the name of Coach Patterson," said Kyle Gould, athletics director for Taylor University. "His legacy of success on the court and in the lives of his players is virtually unparalleled in college athletics. We hope that Paul Patterson Court will be a reminder to all who visit of his lasting impact on the lives of his players."
Patterson and three others will be inducted into the hall of fame at halftime of the Taylor University football game on October 15. Patterson’s 1990-1991 Final Four team will also be honored at the ceremony, which takes place during Taylor’s homecoming and family weekend celebration.
Patterson has previously been inducted into the Halls of Fame for the NAIA, Taylor University, Hanover College, Indiana Basketball, Grant County and Hammond Sports.
