Winnecke succeeds Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight and will begin his new role on January 1.
Matt Greller, executive director and chief executive officer of the IACT, says Goodnight will continue as an IACT officer for another year as the immediate past president. The group also elected Nashville Clerk-Treasurer Brenda Young and Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner to serve as first vice president and second vice president, respectively.
"I enjoy talking with legislators and thought leaders about the amazing things we have going on in Evansville and the tools we need to be even more successful," said Winnecke. "Expanding my role to advocate for the health of all Indiana municipalities is something I’m honored to undertake. It will take collaboration and a lot of guts to unleash the power of Indiana’s communities so we can attract and retain the best and brightest talent."
Winnecke was elected to the IACT Board of Directors and served as first vice president in 2015. The elections were made by the IACT membership at the group’s annual conference and exhibit in French Lick.
