A new attraction is now open in Jeffersonville. Indiana Landmarks says the Clark County Museum, which has been dedicated as an Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project, has been in the works since 2008.

The museum will be part of the southeast Indiana city’s planned Arts and Cultural District and will include artifacts and information about the county’s long history along the Ohio River. The statewide organization says the space will tell stories ranging from the county’s place long ago as a hotbed for illegal activity and its deep connections to the military through sites like the Quartermaster Depot and the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant.

Indiana Landmarks says the 1830s-era Howard House, located next to the museum building at 725 Michigan Avenue, is slated for rehabilitation to turn it into more museum space.
