Subscribe NowIndiana’s candidates for lieutenant governor addressed a wide range of issues facing Hoosier agriculture and rural communities during their first debate Tuesday. The event at the Indiana State Fairgrounds featured Republican nominee Suzanne Crouch and Democratic nominee Christina Hale answering questions on topics ranging from rural broadband availability to farm privacy issues.
Both candidates spent considerable focus on the need for improved rural infrastructure and the keeping and attracting talent in rural Indiana.
Crouch is an Evansville native and Purdue University graduate who is currently serving as Indiana Auditor. Hale is also a Purdue grad and a native of Michigan City, who is currently a state representative in District 87, representing the north side of Indianapolis.
The debate was hosted by AgrIInstitute and featured questions from a panel of journalists, including Brownfield Network Indiana Farm Director Megan Conant, Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute President John Ketzenberger and Hoosier Ag Today President Gary Truitt.
Last month, gubernatorial candidates Eric Holcomb (R) and John Gregg (D) appeared at an event for Hoosier ag stakeholders, discussing the state of the industry and their plans if elected governor in November.
