The agreement involves internship opportunities in the sports science and rehabilitative therapy fields.
The program will begin in the upcoming fall semester and is open to all students, but is geared toward Vera Z. Dwyer College of Health Sciences looking to intern at Memorial Hospital’s Department of Rehabilitation in South Bend.
Director of Rehabilitation Services Brock Haut says "Beacon Health System employs highly educated and trained therapists who will be able to provide cutting edge and evidence based education to IU South Bend students through these internships. Having a partnership with a local institution enables us to work with local students which can hopefully lead to future employment within Beacon Health System."
The school’s health sciences tracks include Health Promotion, Sport and Exercise Science and Health Systems Leadership.
Program Director Ian Clift says "this should be a win for everyone. Memorial Hospital patients will benefit from an extra pair of hands during therapy and students will benefit from hands-on service learning."
