The plans include an upgrade and expansion of the Physical Activities Center and construction of a new student welcome center.
The improvements to the Physical Activities Center will be the first since the building opened in 1980. It is the home court of USI’s Screaming Eagles athletic teams and the site of fall and spring commencement.
The 6,000-square-foot Fuquay Welcome Center will be the newest addition to the campus. Located adjacent the Orr Center, it will serve as the central meeting point for all campus tours. The welcome center will also house the more than 200,000 people who annually use USI for activities other than academic classes.
Groundbreaking for the Fuquay Welcome Center is set for September 1, 2016.
