Methodist Hospitals in northwest Indiana could possibly merge with another health system. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the health system’s board of directors recently met to discuss the possibility of a partnership.

Chief Executive Officer Raymond Grady released a statement to The Times confirming Methodist Hospitals is exploring merger options. He said the health system has been approached by several healthcare organizations.

"Health care reform has put greater pressure on hospitals and health care systems to increase access to care while also minimizing costs," said Grady. "This has made it challenging for many organizations to navigate this new marketplace independently."

Grady told The Times that Methodist Hospitals is financially stable and "operating from a place of strength." The publication reports Methodist had more than $355 million in revenues in 2014 and $345 million in expenses.
