Crum Trucking says it will pump over $4 million into doubling the size of its Batesville Industrial Park facility.
The company says the expansion will accommodate its dispatch and maintenance departments. It currently employs 170 and could break ground on the additional space in August.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the new jobs are expected to pay 30 percent higher than the average wage in the state. Crum Trucking has customers throughout the U.S. and in Canada and Mexico, mostly delivering automotive components, which it began shipping in the early 1990s.
President Keith Crum says "we are excited about the company’s upward growth trend and the ability to complete this expansion project that will provide more Indiana residents with gainful employment. We sincerely appreciate the partnership with the state and our local government to make this project a reality. My family is proud to call Batesville home and to continue to grow our business here."
The company’s 150-truck fleet has grown ten-fold since moving the Batesville Industrial Park in 2001. Crum Trucking has reported annual revenue of approximately $30 million. The IEDC says it has offered Crum Trucking up to $650,000 in conditional, hiring performance-related tax credits and training grants. The city of Batesville is also kicking in incentives for Crum’s plans.
