Kokomo’s new soccer team will play for the first time this weekend at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. The Kokomo Mantis will face off in an exhibition game Saturday against FC Indiana.

The exhibition game takes place one week before the Mantis kicks off its regular season. The team will take on the St. Louis Lions May 20 at home.

The soccer franchise was announced last September and the Kokomo Mantis name was announced in January following a fan contest to name the team. The team also announced then that Marcelo Santos will serve as coach and team manager.

The franchise is owned by Wisconsin-based MKE Sports & Entertainment, which also owns the Kokomo Jackrabbits and Lafayette Aviators baseball teams.
