Two high school seniors from Indiana are among 160 U.S. Presidential Scholars. Cynthia Yue from Carmel High School and Paul Dawley from Crown Point High School will be honored next month for their academic accomplishments. 

The students chosen for the honor were selected by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. The U.S. Department of Education says they were chosen "based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals."

The students will be honored at a ceremony on June 19. Each honoree will receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars include one male and one female student from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, from U.S. families living abroad, and 15 at-large honorees. They also include 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts and 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education.
