Fishers-based Sticksnleaves co-founder Yaw Aning says the company has developed more than 70 web and mobile apps for clients ranging from startups, like Hoosier startup CoatChex, to large companies like Rolls-Royce. He says Sticksnleaves aims to stand out in a competitive market by providing a team of engineers, marketers and designers built around diversity.
Aning says another key component of Sticksnleaves’ strategy is to cater its development process to the size of the client. He says small companies are often focused on speed, as they look to get their new products to market as quickly as possible. Larger companies, he says, need to get consensus from stakeholders and provide more validation that there is an opportunity in the market that they can capitalize on, so the team will focus on providing that data.
Sticksnleaves also makes diversity a priority. Aning says, in today’s environment, a company can launch a product and have an instant global audience, so the company’s team should reflect that market. He says, while growth is great, company leadership is "more focused on building a lasting firm, rather than a large firm."
The company was founded in 2010 by Aning and Anthony Smith. Aning says Smith, a vegetarian, was often teased in "meat and potatoes" Kokomo for eating "sticks and leaves," which led to the name of the company.
