Topgolf, IKEA Plans Move Forward

The council approved a resolution which waives the city’s fees for development and construction of the golf entertainment complex. Topgolf plans to invest $18 million for the 65,000 square-foot facility, which will be located on 116th Street near Cumberland Road.
The council said Topgolf has not requested any additional incentives from the city. The location is expected to open in spring of 2017.
IKEA received approval of a rezoning ordinance for its planned $40 million project near I-69 and 116th Street. The rezone makes the 35-acre site specific to the IKEA property. The company will build a 296,000 square-foot store with approximately 1,000 parking spaces on the site.
In November, IKEA reached an economic development agreement with the city to waive $1.6 million in development fees. The city is also required to complete three road projects as part of the agreement.
The company says pending remaining approvals and permits, construction on the project could begin this fall. The store is expected to open in fall of 2017.
