The silent phase of the campaign began in July 2012 and had raised $910 million by the time of the public launch last October. To date, there have been over 134,000 donors from 69 countries.
About 20 percent of the total raised thus far, just under $200 million, has been committed to Purdue endowments, which are designated for scholarships, faculty recruitment and support, and academic programs.
“The Purdue family has shown incredible generosity toward the university and this campaign,” said Amy Noah, vice president for development, Purdue Research Foundation. “It’s because of ever true Boilermakers – alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends – that Purdue is able to deliver impact, transform lives and keep higher education affordable. We are profoundly grateful.”
One of the campaign initiatives for this year is the launch of Purdue Pay It Forward. The student-run effort aims to encourage students to give in honor of teachers, staff or others who have made a positive impact on their Purdue experience.
The Purdue Bell Tower, which is the symbol of the campaign, will be lit in gold next week to mark the milestone. Click here to learn more about the "Ever True" campaign.
