Trustees have also approved construction of a new football performance complex, which is being supported by more than $12 million from Purdue football alumni and their families.
The university says, with the room and board approval, rates remain lower in 2016-2017 than they were in 2012-2013. President Mitch Daniels says room and board is close to tuition for student expenses, so "we will continue to look for ways to control these costs." Trustees also approved rates for its Calumet and IPFW campuses. At Calumet, room and board will remain flat at the 2015-2016 levels for the new academic year. IPFW rates will remain flat overall, as some options increase in price and others decrease.
The support for the football complex comes from Drew and Brittany Brees, Sandy Dauch (on behalf of her late husband, Dick), Tom and Joy Spurgeon, Doug and Maria DeVos and Bob and Amy Martin. The three-level facility will be the everyday home of the football program and include a sports performance training area, sports medicine facility and a lobby highlighting the team’s history.
Trustees also approved the metrics that will be used to review Daniels’ performance for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. You can see the summary of the metrics by clicking here.
