Millard, a longtime Indianapolis attorney and passionate supporter of the state’s entrepreneurial community, passed away last week at the age of 60. The Kokomo native retired just one year ago from Indianapolis law firm Barnes and Thornburg, where he was partner in charge of the firm’s corporate practice.
Millard was well-known for his passionate support of entrepreneurs and the start-up community. He served as president of The Venture Club of Indiana and the Entrepreneur’s Alliance of Indiana and held leadership positions on the Indiana Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
The Indiana University graduate is remembered by friends and colleagues as “a champion for the little guy,” says Bruce Kidd, a senior vice president at Indianapolis-based Walker. "He was passionate about start-up and entrepreneurial companies and their important role in our state’s economic future. He invested the better part of 30 years advising hundreds of entrepreneurial companies and small business owners all around the state of Indiana as an attorney, a mentor and a friend,” said Kidd in a statement to Inside INdiana Business.
A supporter of the entrepreneurship programs at Ball State University and Indiana University, Millard donated hundreds of hours of his time and treasure to supporting entrepreneurs and their companies and was an important player in the growth of Indianapolis’ emerging innovation and venture capital communities.
