Women’s Fund of Central Indiana has awarded $157,500 in grants to 17 nonprofits. The grants support four priority areas including domestic violence, caregiving, insufficient income and girls.

With these latest grants, Women’s Fund had donated more than $5.5 million to central Indiana nonprofits. Women’s Fund says it represents a significant investment in the greatest needs and critical issues facing women and girls.

The 2015 grants were awarded to the following nonprofits:

• Alternatives – $10,000 for emergency shelter case management for victims of domestic violence and their families.
• Center for Victim & Human Rights – $10,000 for protection order and family law legal assistance to domestic violence victims.
• Coburn Place – $5,000 to support advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their families.
• Craine House – $10,000 for programs for non-violent offenders and their children 5 years old and younger.
• Domestic Violence Network – $5,000 to support five “In Her Shoes” simulations to help people better understand challenges faced by domestic violence victims. 
• Dove Recovery House – $5,000 for housing for chemically addicted women.
• Early Learning Indiana – $10,000 for childcare tuition assistance for mothers who are working or going to school.
• Edna Martin Christian Center – $10,000 for their “Mothers and Daughters Explore & Earn” program.
• G.L.A.M. – $22,500 for operating support and organizational sustainability assistance.
• Girls Inc. of Shelby County – $10,000 for literacy programming for 1st-3rd graders.
• Indy Public Safety Foundation – $10,000 for the “Pink Boots on the Ground” program.
• LaPlaza – $5,000 to support the “Adelante Familias Center for Working Families” program.
• Prevail – $10,000 to support front desk staff members trained in using the “Trauma Informed Care” model when greeting victims of crime and abuse.
• Salvation Army Ruth Lilly Center – $5,000 for staff training and development to help victims of human trafficking.
• Seeds of Hope – $15,000 for housing support for chemically addicted women.
• Social Health Association – $5,000 for the establishment of Healthy Families Curriculum.
• Turning Point – $10,000 for emergency shelter services and “Safe Date” programming in Johnson and Shelby Counties.
