The president of Goshen College is returning from an invitation-only event at the White House. Jim Brenneman was representing the northern Indiana school at a roundtable discussion on climate action.

Brenneman was part of President Obama’s American Campuses Act on Climate day of action.

The college says it is continuing efforts to "neutralize greenhouse gas emissions" and boost campus-wide sustainable practices. Some steps include reducing its carbon footprint by an estimated 22 percent between 2008 and 2013, purchasing all of its electricity from renewable sources in 2013 and converting nearly 20 percent of its lawn space to native plants and prairie restoration.

Brenneman said "I am proud that Goshen College is recognized as a leader in the field of sustainability by being invited to participate in this important conversation at the highest levels. It is an honor for Goshen College to be among a very select group of colleges and universities to be invited by the White House to participate in the American Campuses Act on Climate roundtable today."
