Indiana Blood Center Names New CEO

He most recently served as chief medical officer of Indianapolis-based hc1.com. Miraglia has served on the center’s board of directors since 1998 and has held a variety of leadership roles in the health care sector over the last 20 years.
Miraglia says the center, like almost any organization in the industry, is in a period of transition. Last year, the organization lost partnerships with Indiana University Health and St. Vincent Health. At the time, the center said, while its mission would not change, it would seek out more regional partners. It also formed a partnership with The Milk Bank to create more depots for donor mothers to drop off milk.
In a release from the Indiana Blood Center, Board Chair Alan Whaley said, "Charlie has built a strong reputation as a leader with a proven track record of achieving operational excellence and driving growth. As an innovator in healthcare management and the life sciences, combined with his tremendous clinical experience, Charlie is the new leader we need for a new era to build upon the 60-plus years of community service by Indiana Blood Center and its donors."
Miraglia’s career path also includes leadership roles at the former Methodist Hospital and Clarian Health Partners (now IU Health), PA Labs LLC and Sonic Healthcare USA.
He succeeds Dan Waxman, who has served as interim president and chief executive officer since January. Waxman will remain chief medical officer.
Miraglia says technology will be key to better engaging the center’s partners.
