MonoSol CEO Joins Butler Board

He is chief executive officer of Merrillville-based MonoSol LLC, which makes water-soluble films used in products ranging from laundry detergent pods to prosthetic limbs.
Bening co-holds at least seven patents and MonoSol has around 30. He is also a member of Chicago’s Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.
MonoSol was acquired by Japan-based Kuraray in 2012. In addition to leading MonoSol, Bening serves as global head of Kuraray’s W.S. Film Division.
Bening holds degrees from St. Lawrence University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also a fellow of the Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana.
