Economic Development Director Dave Christian says the investment by JBC Rail Services has brought "new customers into the park for the first time in a long time."
Jim Carroll with JBC says the new railyard currently has the capacity to store 300 railcars, with a goal of expanding to 1,200 cars next year. He says the facility can also handle warehousing, trans-loading and light car maintenance. He says, while job growth will initially be modest, "word gets around to the logistics community" that there are shovel ready sites in a rail-serviced park.
The park already receives rail traffic through South Shore Freight and CN lines.
