IPFW Announces Fall Enrollment Numbers

Subscribe NowIndiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne has released its enrollment statistics for the fall semester. The school is reporting gains in freshman, graduate, and international students, but a decline in overall undergraduate enrollment.
“I’m pleased with the rise of freshman enrollments directly from high school and with the increased number of credit hours they’re taking. We saw their energy during New Student Orientation. These students are excited about their future and see the value of an IPFW education,” Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management Carl Drummond said.
IPFW says freshman enrollments for students directly from high school are up 4.7% to 1,584, compared to 1,513 in 2014. School officials say the number of graduate students is up 3.5% to 559 and international student enrollment increased by almost 20%, growing to 259 students, up from last year’s 217.
“Graduate education is important for Fort Wayne and all of northeast Indiana. Advanced degrees, such as the new Doctor of Nursing Practice program, IPFW’s first doctoral degree that launched this fall, meet needs in the community and in business,” Drummond said.
Overall enrollment dipped to 12,719 students from 13,214 last year.
“We anticipated the decline as part of the post-recessionary cycle that higher education is in and proactively planned for it in our budgeting,” Drummond said.
