The four-year effort aims to raise funds and support for the county’s economic development programs.
The EDC launched the campaign in April, saying it would need private sector support to carry out its long-term strategy. That plan includes a focus on business expansion and retention, business attraction, entrepreneurship and work force development.
The organization says the funding will support efforts including marketing available sites and buildings and developing an entrepreneurial program connecting innovators to business resources. The latest local business to pledge its support is 1st Source Bank, which has committed $15,000. The EDC says the bank is the 40th business or organization to contribute money or in-kind services.
The MCEDC says, in 2014, seven existing businesses announced expansions involving nearly 600 new jobs and more than $50 million in investment.
