Skill UP Indiana will offer up to $11 million in total funding to organizations including industry-led partnerships, adult education programs and local government units.
The department says K-12 and post-secondary education entities, CTE centers, work force training providers and economic development partners are also eligible for the grants. The program requires a private match of 25 percent.
Skill UP Indiana is in response to a call from the Indiana Career Council to strengthen the alignment of education and business needs.
In a release from the Department of Workforce Development, Commissioner Steven Braun said, "These regional collaborations will work to identify skill sets and sector pathways in demand locally that will prepare individuals for existing positions and jobs of the future. We need to encourage earlier conversations, additional explorations, and provide career path tools that enable student and parents the opportunity to make informed decisions regarding high school classes and post-secondary options.”
The deadline to apply for the new round of funding is December 31. The department will make technical assistance available for organizations interested in applying. You can find more information by clicking here.
