Gibson has locations in four Indiana cities, employs 120 workers and partner Tania Bengtsson says the company is in growth mode. She credits the more than 80-year-old company’s performance to a culture of innovation and a willingness to buck the industry perception of "male, pale and stale."
Bengtsson says the employee-owned company is "incredibly honored" to be honored as one of the Companies to Watch and admits insurance companies are not typically the types of businesses being recognized for growth and innovation. She says Gibson’s goals include being "a dominant player in every marketplace" and "if anything, we want to become the acquirer." The company has been named by the Indiana Chamber as a Best Place to Work for the last three years. Its offices are located in South Bend, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Plymouth.
Businesses in 10 other counties are represented this year as Companies to Watch. The Indiana Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship-led program selected winners from a total of 50 nominees.
Qualifying companies have 150 full-time employees or less and annual revenue or capital between $750,000 and $100 million.
