Sandia Manager Bill Hart will work out of the office, which the school calls a crucial part of growing research collaborations involving the two institutions.
Purdue and Sandia announced the strategic alliance in April, saying it would help accelerate technology adoption and boost faculty research partnerships. The five-year agreement also involves experiential learning opportunities and student recruitment efforts.
Hart is visiting campus this week to begin exploratory meetings with faculty. Sandia Energy and Climate Program Management Unit Deputy Director Marcey Hoover is also visiting campus. She earned her doctorate in statistics from Purdue in 1995.
Purdue is one of five research universities to have a strategic alliance with Sandia. The others are the University of Illinois, Georgia Tech, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of New Mexico.
