A southeast Indiana company with clients including NASA, Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE: PG) and the U.S. Department of Defense is being recognized nationally for innovation. Greenville-based Techshot Inc. is among a select group to receive a 2015 Tibbetts Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Vice President of Corporate Advancement Rich Boling says, despite highly-publicized cuts to federal defense and space programs, the company sees ample opportunity for growth. The Tibbetts honorees are all participants in the federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs.

Techshot also won in 1998 and 2002.

In September, Techshot's x-ray system became what it says is the first technology of its kind in space. The Bone Densitometer was aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that docked with the international space station last September. It was used to measure the bone density in mice during a mission.

Techshot says NASA has been its oldest customer, working together for more than 25 years.

In an interview, Boling adds Techshot's success is being bolstered by “remarkable” growth in New Albany and other neighboring communities. He says improved quality of life and the craft food and beverage movement are helping the company and region draw talent.

An awards ceremony will be held June 16 in Washington D.C. to honor Techshot and the other award winners.
