A new mayor of Elwood will be named tonight. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report Don Tucker, the only Republican candidate for the November mayoral election, is the likely choice. Ron Arnold's last day as mayor is today. He had previously announced that he would not run for re-election. Last month, Arnold issued a statement saying “opportunities have arisen that will require me to leave office earlier than I had planned.”

A group of Republican precinct committee members will make the decision on the new mayor. The Herald Bulletin reports Tucker is the only person who has expressed interest in the job.
