The founder of a Johnson County produce provider says aquaponics is allowing him to sell his products, including tilapia year-round. John Woodbury with Nature's Gift Aquaponics in Morgantown says waste from the fish fertilizes the produce, which, in turn, filters the water. During an interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Woodbury said his business model is part of Indiana's growing “farm to fork” movement. Woodbury recently added hydroponic grow beds, and says he hopes to move into a larger greenhouse in the next few years.

“People are becoming more and more local. They love local food. It tastes much better. And being able to grow and expand Aquaponics like this, is really getting people more interested,” Woodbury said.

Woodbury went to Franklin College and opened Nature's Gift Aquaponics in 2012. He says he plans to expand into a bigger greenhouse in a couple of years. Woodbury says he is reaching out to schools to offer educational tours.
